EFCC releases Ekiti Commissioner, Acct- General
Ado-Ekiti—The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday released the detained Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Toyin Ojo and the state’s Accountant General, Mrs. Yemisi Owolabi.
The duo reportedly regained their freedom yesterday, after a court allegedly denied an application brought by the commission on their matter.
Governor Ayodele Fayose’s special assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed their release.
According to him; ‘’They were released in Abuja after they had scrambled fruitlessly for non-existent evidences with which to prosecute them.
“If they had anything against the Ekiti government officials, I’m sure they would have made a show of the entire matter in the courts.”
Chief Toyin Ojo and Mrs. Yemisi Owolabi were arrested on September 28th on allegations that they ignored earlier invitations to answer questions on mishandling of Paris Club refunds received by the state.
